❓Frequently Asked Questions

Because the path of mystery raises many questions—
and a few eyebrows.

🦶 What is F.I.N.D.?

F.I.N.D. stands for Field Investigation of Nonhuman Discoveries. We're a dedicated to the exploration of unexplained phenomena, cryptids like Bigfoot, and the deeper meaning behind the mysteries of nature. We seek truth, humor, and harmony in the unknown.

🌲 What is The Church of Bigfoot?

The Church of Bigfoot is the spiritual branch of F.I.N.D.—a sacred space for reflection, community, and cryptid-inspired connection. It's where ritual meets reverence, and where wedding ceremonies and forest meditations coexist peacefully with squatch sightings and snack breaks.

👰 Can I legally officiate weddings through you?

Yes. If you get ordained through The Church of Bigfoot, you are legally authorized to officiate weddings in most U.S. states and many countries. We recommend checking your local laws (some states may require registration with the county clerk). But rest assured—our ordination certificates and ID badges are legit. Even if your beliefs are... untraditional. Get ordained here.

📜 Are you a real religion?

Yes. We are a legally recognized religious organization.

We have core beliefs, community rituals, sacred texts (some are handwritten in field journals), and a growing congregation of spiritual searchers. Our religion may be unorthodox, but it is rooted in sincerity, curiosity, and acceptance.

🤨 Do I have to believe in Bigfoot?

Not at all. You simply need to believe in something bigger—whether that’s love, mystery, nature, or the possibility that we don’t know everything. Bigfoot is our metaphor, our mascot, and maybe our neighbor. But belief in literal Sasquatch is not required.

🧠 What do you actually believe?

We believe:

  • Everyone is worthy of dignity, mystery, and spiritual freedom

  • The unknown is not something to fear, but to explore

  • Humor and holiness can exist in the same sentence

  • Love is real, nature is sacred, and curiosity is a virtue

  • If something rustles in the woods, you should probably go check it out

See our full Beliefs page for more.

📅 What kind of ceremonies can I perform?

As an ordained minister of The Church of Bigfoot, you can perform:

  • Weddings (religious, spiritual, or just really cool)

  • Vow renewals

  • Memorials and celebrations of life

  • Campfire blessings

  • Van lifer dedications

  • Cryptid cleansing rituals (mostly symbolic)

We even provide crafted ceremony scripts to help you get started.

🕶️ Is this just a joke?

No. And yes.

We use humor as a tool—not a mask. While we absolutely love puns, weird lore, and ironic forest fashion, our mission is real. We provide spiritual services, legally valid ordinations, and a genuine community of seekers. Our followers span believers, skeptics, scientists, artists, and the extremely outdoorsy.

🌎 Is this an online church?

Yes. Our sanctuary is the open internet and the open trail. All ordinations, services, and rituals are currently online. That said, you’re encouraged to go outside. Seriously. It’s amazing out there.

🧙‍♂️ Who runs this thing?

The Church of Bigfoot was founded by Archminister Jake Howard, spiritual explorer, cryptid enthusiast, and lover of kind-hearted weirdos everywhere.

🔥 Do you worship Bigfoot?

Not exactly. We honor the idea of Bigfoot as a symbol:

  • Of the unknown

  • Of things we don’t understand yet

  • Of respect for nature, solitude, and secrets

  • And of how belief connects us more than certainty ever could

🧡 Is there tithing or a donation requirement?

Nope. But we do accept donations of acts of kindness. We ask members to do good in the world: help a neighbor, pick up trash in the woods, be kind to someone weird, or write poetry to the moon. That’s our kind of sacred offering.

🔍 I saw something weird in the woods. Can I tell you?

Absolutely. Head to our Report a Sighting page and share your experience—paranormal, cryptid, or just emotionally confusing. We believe your story matters.

🧼 Do you do baptisms?

Sort of. We call it “Rinsing in the River of Reasonable Doubt.”

Participants are encouraged to wade into a stream, lake, or bathtub while reciting a chosen mantra. It’s symbolic, meaningful, and probably refreshing.

🛸 What if I believe in aliens, ghosts, or other weird things?

Welcome home. We honor all forms of belief in the unknown—alien, spiritual, interdimensional, or emotionally unresolved. You don’t need to fit a mold. You just need to keep your heart and mind open.
